MeetOut ("we") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.
1. Data We Collect
- Account: email address, first name or username, city.
- Profile: profile photo (optional), interests, short bio.
- Location: city or approximate coordinates, used solely to display nearby plans. We do not store your location continuously.
- Activity: plans created or joined, friend requests, messages in private chats.
- Notifications: push notification token (Expo), chosen notification radius.
- Technical: Firebase session identifiers, anonymized error logs.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Display and personalize your plan feed.
- Connect users (public profiles, friends, messaging).
- Send plan and message notifications.
- Detect and prevent abuse (reports, automated moderation).
- Improve the app (aggregated usage metrics).
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with:
- Firebase (Google): database hosting and authentication (see Google Privacy Policy).
- Expo: push notification service.
- Stripe: payment processing for premium features (event boosts). Stripe never receives your profile content.
- Brevo: transactional email delivery (welcome emails, account notifications).
4. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab → Settings → Delete my account. Deletion permanently removes your profile, messages, and activity data within 30 days.
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you reside in the EEA, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
6. Security
Your data is stored on Firebase infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Firestore rules restrict access to each document to its owner or authorized participants.
7. Children
MeetOut is intended for users aged 12 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 12.
